The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is India's single indirect tax on the supply of goods and services. Businesses add GST to their prices, collect it from customers, and deposit it with the government after adjusting for the tax already paid on their own purchases (input tax credit). Common rate slabs are 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%.
This GST calculator works both ways. To add GST to a base price: GST amount = price ร rate รท 100. To remove GST from a GST-inclusive price: base = inclusive price ร 100 รท (100 + rate). For sales within a state the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST; for inter-state sales a single IGST applies.
For example, on a โน10,000 product at 18% GST, the tax is โน1,800 (โน900 CGST + โน900 SGST) and the final price is โน11,800. If a โน11,800 price already includes 18% GST, the base value is โน10,000 and the tax is โน1,800. Enter your amount and slab to compute all of this instantly.
CGST and SGST are charged on sales within a state (going to the centre and state); IGST is charged on inter-state sales.
Divide the inclusive price by (100 + rate) and multiply by 100 to get the base value.
